Shockers Have 11 Players on
Times All-Area HS Team

Times Announces All-Area Softball Team

On June 29, 1997 the Times, a newspaper serving NW Indiana, announced their selections for the 1997 All-Area High School softball team. From first team to honorable mention eleven of the Shockers players made the team.

First Team - Five Players
	Danielle Garnett Danielle is entering her senior year at Griffith HS. She was selected to the team as a pitcher. Her 1997 stats include: Record 9-2 115 Strike Outs 94 Innings Pitched 1.19 ERA
	Suzie Ekaitis Suzie graduated from Lake Central HS this year and will be attending Ball State University at Muncie, IN. She was selected to the team as a second sacker. Her 1997 stats include: Batting Average .340 3 Triples 20 RBIs 21 Runs Scored
	Cyndi Hatala Cyndi graduated from Portage HS and will be attending Butler University. She was selected as a third baseman. Her 1997 stats include: Batting Average .344 31 Hits 5 Doubles 2 Triples 35 RBIs 19 Runs Scored .965 Fielding Percentage
	Heather Gapinski Heather is another Portage graduate. She was selected as an outfielder. Her 1997 stats include: Batting Average .382 34 Hits 23 Runs Scored 25 RBIs 8 Stolen Bases
	Courtney Witvliet Courtney graduated from Lake Central HS and will be attending Northern Illinois. Her 1997 stats include: Record 18-1 196 Strike Outs 116 Innings 0.30 ERA
Second Team - One Player
	Jenny Linders Jenny will be a senior at Griffith HS next year. She was selected as a utility player and was Griffith's starting shortstop. Her 1997 stats include: Batting Average .423 26 RBIs 22 Runs Scored 6 Doubles
Honorable Mention - Five Players
	Jorie Flores will be a senior at Griffith HS next year, she plays first base.
	Tracy Horvath a Bishop Noll graduate, who will be attending Canisius College in Buffalo NY. Tracy plays third base.
	Ami McQueary will be a senior at Griffith HS next year. She is a pitcher.
	Katie Rak is a graduate of Andrean HS and will attend Notre Dame next year. Katie plays shortstop.
	Katy Ray will be a senior at Andrean HS next year. She is a catcher.
