1997 ASA State Tourney

Played in Mooresville, IN July 11-13


Game One
Shockers 13 - Tri-City Thunder 4

The Shockers got off to a fast start, scoring 5 runs in the top of the first. Suzie Ekaitis drove in a pair of runs in the first and Tracy Horvath also had an RBI. The Shockers scored in every inning. Katie Rak scored 2 runs and had 2 hits.

Ami McQueary earned the win with the 5 inning complete game and struck out 6.

Game Two
Shockers 2 - Indiana Gators 1

The Shockers got all of the runs they needed in the bottom of the second inning when they scored 2. Suzie Ekaitis started the inning with a single and was sacrificed to second by Katie Rak. Tracy Horvath drove in Ekaitis with a double and then scored on a single by Jorie Flores.

Danielle Garnett pitched a gem after overcoming 2 hit batters in the first inning. She allowed no runs, only 3 hits, and struck out 5.

Game Three
Indiana Thunder 4 - Shockers 3

The Shockers were dropped into the losers bracket by the So. Indiana Thunder by the score of 4-3. All 4 of the Thunder's runs were unearned, due to 3 Shockers errors.

The only offensive threat by the Shockers came in the top of the fourth when they scored 3 runs. Casey Stephens led off with a single and stole second. After a ground out Suzie Ekaitis and Tracy Horvath each doubled.

Ami McQueary and Danielle Garnett combined to give up only 4 hits and struck out 9 (Garnett had 7).

Game Four
Panthers 6 - Shockers 5

Another sub-par defensive game resulted in the elimination of the Shockers from the ASA State Tourney by the Panthers, from Schererville, IN.

The Shockers scored 5 runs on 8 hits, including a double by Suzie Ekaitis and triples by Katie Rak and Cyndi Hatala. Ekaitis also had 2 RBIs.

Once again Danielle Garnett relieved Ami McQueary. Over the last inning and a third Garnett only gave up one hit, but due to 2 Shockers errors in the inning that hitter scored the decisive run in the game.
